Getting a credit card is almost indispensable today. Since I cancelled my American Express credit card there’s a huge range of goods and services I haven’t been able to access. I found I couldn’t join my local gym, order clothes over the internet or even reserve a plane ticket to New York, online, the basic stuff of life. It wasn’t that long ago when cash spoke volumes, but not anymore.

Using an American Express, Visa or Mastercard has become commonplace globally but we do it without thinking, do I need this and do I have the money. However, there is a price to pay when you use your American Express credit card and the buy now, pay tomorrow attitude. Money owed to credit card companies is increasing everywhere. One of the largest problems facing America today is that of credit card debt.
This is the primary reason I decided to cancel my American Express credit card recently. I found it too easy using my card and spending money that wasn’t mine to spend. I was using my card for just about everything, but I soon noticed the debts were mounting. The debt became too great for me to pay and I didn’t know what to do.
The debt refinancing service I turned to were my best hope and I managed to get the debt repayment under control. This is not something I ever want to happen again. The hardship was worth it though because I am now debt free and my American Express credit card is no more. Many people would think me unfair about blaming a credit card but they need to understand something about people first.
If you pay for goods or services in cash, you actually see that money coming out of your pocket. But like I said before, a credit card made everything way too easy. I would just keep spending, not realizing until all the money was gone. So remember, if you don’t have an American Express card, you don’t have any worries.
